On the morning of September 15, the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians Conference opened in Hanoi, with the participation of more than 300 young parliamentarians and delegates from 70 member parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). ).
Speaking at the opening ceremony at the Conference, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that Vietnam was honored to be chosen by IPU as the host country to host this Conference.
“The hosting of the Conference by the Vietnamese National Assembly continues to affirm Vietnam’s active, proactive, and responsible participation in the IPU; at the same time, it shows Vietnam’s priority and concern for the youth and global issues of today’s youth,” the National Assembly Chairman stated.
Emphasizing that the world is experiencing a Covid-19 pandemic of unprecedented scale, with losses far exceeding all predictions, Mr. Hue said that never before has the political, economic and international security environment stood before the world. difficult and challenging times like today. At the same time, competition, strategic separation, fluctuations and instability in the food, energy, financial and monetary markets, decline in investment, disruption of supply chains… have erased many The results of poverty reduction and development over the past decades are causing great, multidimensional difficulties, both in the immediate and long term, for many countries around the world.
“However, while globalization faces difficulties, a series of new economic cooperation and linkage initiatives at both the regional and global levels continue to be accelerated. A world without war, humanity No more poverty is a wish, a common denominator of global cooperation efforts,” said the National Assembly Chairman.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the National Assembly requested participating delegates to discuss what needs to be done and how to comply with and ensure international law and the United Nations Charter, which is a key condition for preserving and cultivating peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
At the same time, IPU is requested to research and establish a global network of young parliamentarians on innovation to exchange and learn from each other’s experiences.
