Who developed Android?

Android was developed by a team of engineers led by Andy Rubin at Android Inc., a company founded in 2003. In 2005, Android Inc. was acquired by Google, and the development of the Android operating system continued under Google’s leadership. Andy Rubin, along with his team, played a significant role in shaping and refining Android into the platform we know today.

Under Google’s stewardship, Android has grown to become the most widely used mobile operating system globally, powering a wide range of devices beyond smartphones and tablets, such as smartwatches, smart TVs, and even some automotive systems. Google continues to lead the development of Android, working with a large community of developers and partners to enhance and expand the platform’s capabilities.
